Writer’s block – busting through

Writer’s block – busting through

One of the hardest things about blogging is deciding what to blog about. Everyone, from veterans to newbies, gets writer’s block.

One of my favorite blogs, Copyblogger.com illustrates one of the best ways to defeat the blog-blocking beast — repurposing content you’ve already created. In fact, this infographic does it on an exponential level by repurposing content about creating content when you have writers’ block. Is your mind blown?

One of my favorite tactics (as I’m illustrating here) is to start with an article, blog or piece of information (like the following infographic) I found elsewhere and expand on it in my own blog. Copyblogger has helped by making its infographic shareable. My post helps Copyblogger because I’m sharing it here and providing links back to its site. Everybody wins.

Staying in touch with others in your industry keeps you on top of trends, gives you new perspective and helps you figure out where you fit in. Other people and businesses in your industry aren’t just your competition, they can help you, too.

This is where tip #4 comes in. Move a step forward from building on the content of others, and ask for expertise. Interview an influencer in your industry and write a blog post from that. This tactic pays off beyond the great blog post you’ll produce from that interview.  It also helps when you post links to that blog post in social media because your influencer will help pass that link to her own followers.

Look at the 22 tips below, and tell me what’s worked for you.
